It’s time to talk about the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the latest phone from Samsung. We know what you may have been thinking — “is a foldable smartphone really worth it?” Well, we have some good news! Yes, the Galaxy Z Fold is absolutely worth it, especially if you want to have a device that folds out the display from a single-piece back cover.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with a 6.7 inch AMOLED display that covers the entire front side of the device (which makes it look even bigger than its 5.8 inch predecessor). There’s no notch at the top, but the bottom portion of the screen is actually slightly raised above the rest of the phone. That means that the camera module sits higher than usual, making the phone appear larger than it is.
On the right hand side of the device, there’s a power button. On the left edge, you’ll find volume buttons and a SIM card tray. And on the very tip of the device, there are two stereo speakers.
There’s a small fingerprint scanner on the backside of the phone which is located under the camera module. One thing that we don’t love about the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the fact that there isn’t a headphone jack anywhere on the phone. Instead, there is a USB Type-C port on the bottom edge of the phone which is where you plug in your headphones. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 doesn’t feature wireless charging capabilities.
Samsung says that the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Fold is 2,730 mAh. However, since the phone doesn’t charge wirelessly, it’s hard to tell how much juice the phone will last before needing a recharge.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 runs Android 9 Pie operating system, and features Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. In terms of RAM, the phone comes with 6GB of RAM. As for storage, the phone offers 128GB internal memory. If you need additional space, you can expand the storage via microSD card slot.
For connectivity options, there’s Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, NFC, GPS, and a rear mounted fingerprint reader. You can use the phone either using a case or without any protection.
In terms of dimensions, the Galaxy Z Fold measures 163 x 72.9 x 10.9 mm and weighs 212 grams.
